Applied Music – Composition, Fall Semester 2024

• Odd-numbered Weeks: 50-minute Composition Class in JFAC 175, the Keyboard Lab
• Even-numbered Weeks: Individual Composition Lesson in Spafford 304, Dr. Wieland’s Office
  (The length of the individual composition lessons will be 15-, 20-, or 25-minutes depending upon enrollment.)
• Compositions are due online before class on Monday. (Weekly composition assignments are 80% of your semester grade.)

Finals Week, Dec. 12 – 13 and 16 – 18: A Meaningful Culminating Activity TBD

As Time Allows:

• Create a meaningful culminating activity for finals week, e.g.
  • a composition recital open to other students and family (Which piece was created entirely with AI?)
  • a new music listening extravaganza open to other students and family
  • another composition assignment
  • a creativity activity
  • other?
• Create listening guides.
• Discuss Creativity.
