Rhythm Dictation Tips

- Clap or tap the rhythm. (Feel it.)

- Memorize as much of the rhythm as possible.
|
- Work both forward from the beginning and backward from the end.
|
|
- Invent a fast shorthand. For example:
- Draw a music ruler.
- Tap your foot to the beat.
- Mark the ruler whenever notes begin.
- Draw squiggles for 16ths.
- Write S for any 16th-8th-16th syncopations.
