Latin Choir — St. Mary's Church, Aberdeen, SD
The Latin Choir is devoted to singing excellent Latin a cappella music well. We occasionally use instruments and sometimes sing in English. Because we sing at Saint Mary's Church, we try to sing a Marian hymn at each Mass. The entire congregation sings the Mass, the opening hymn, the communion hymn and the closing hymn. The Latin Choir sings before Mass, during offertory, after communion and after Mass.
Director: Dr. Wieland   Dates: One Sunday a month during the academic year   Rehearsal: 9:45 am   Mass: 10:30 am
Member Qualifications
  1. Good Musicians. We are busy. To sing masterworks with few rehearsals, we must all be good sight readers attentive to musical interpretation.
  2. Choral Singers. We must blend with appropriate volume, timbre and little or no vibrato. Soloists have many other opportunities.
  3. Team Players. With little rehearsal time, we must be reliable and punctual to sing well.
