- Malt-o-Meal, Cream of Wheat, Steel-cut, and Rolled Oats — add raisins or fruit
- Rice (white, brown, basmati) — sticks together, but good
- Bulgur Wheat — used to make tabouli
- Damper Bread — a simple Australian recipe my daughter likes
Vegetables
- Potatoes — scrub whole potatoes and cook in about ½ inch of water
- Beets
- Carrots — a bit discolored, but good
- Frozen Vegetables — easy to overcook
- Corn on the Cob — cook about half husked cobs
