- Write your name and Nordisches Lied on a sheet of staff paper.
- Write your favorite clef followed by the key signature and time signature of Nordisches Lied.
- Write each chord in close position and root position (line-line-line or space-space-space) on the staff using the rhythm of the actual music. Schumann repeats chords. On your staff paper in measure 6, simply write, "Same as bar 2." Schumann repeats measures 5 times.
- Finally, identify each chord with jazz/pop music symbols, e.g.
A = A major triad
Gm = G minor triad
Csus = C suspended triad
C7 = C dominant seventh chord
f#o = F sharp diminished triad
g#o7 = G sharp diminished seventh chord
(Musicians, publishers and you may use other chord symbols. For example, a G minor triad may be identified as Gm, Gmi, Gmin, G– or simply lower case g.)
