For most of my life, I could anything in large quantities. Sadly, those days are over.
I take a blood thinner, so I eat less vitamin K. Long USDA List (I avoid any foods over 100 μg of vitamin K per serving.)
  • Avoid green leafy vegetables: asparagus, broccoli, brussel sprouts, chard, endive, greens, kale, kohlrabi, parsley, sauerkraut, spinach
  • Also avoid: avocados, cashews, cranberries, grapefruit, green tea, kelp, mangos, pine nuts, soybeans, soy oil
  • A little: alcohol, cabbage, coleslaw, green beans, onions, green peas, romaine lettuce
  • In moderation: iceberg lettuce
  • Good: beans, dairy, eggs, fish, most fruit, grains, legumes, meat, mushrooms, most unsalted nuts, unsalted seeds, spices, many vegetables
My a1c is high, so I eat fewer carbs. Long USDA List (On my Windows computer, I press F3 to search.)
  • Avoid: candy, corn, desserts, ice cream, pasta, potatoes, rice, sugar, sweet potatoes, white bread
  • A little: (dry) beans, (light) beer, fruit, hard alcohol 🫤, whole grains, (dry) wine
  • Good: most vegetables
  • Better: unsweetened dairy
  • Best: eggs, fish, meat, mushrooms, unsalted nuts, unsalted seeds, spices
