Odd-numbered Weeks: 50-minute Composition Class Even-numbered Weeks: Online Discussion + Individual Composition Lessons (The length of the individual composition lessons will be 15-, 20-, or 25-minutes depending upon enrollment.) Week 1: August 26 – 30 Composition Class — Discuss the Syllabus. — Choose assignments for next week. Week 2: September 2 – 6 (Monday is Labor Day.) Individual Lesson — What are your principle goals for this course? Week 3: September 9 – 13 (Thursday is the Faculty Showcase Recital.) Composition Class Week 4: September 16 – 20 (The marching band tours on Thursday and Friday.) Individual Lesson Week 5: September 23 – 27 (Tuesday evening is the orchestral workshop. Wednesday is the choral workshop.) Composition Class Week 6: September 30 – October 4 (October 5 is homecoming.) Individual Lesson Week 7: October 7 – 11 Composition Class Week 8: October 14 – 18 (Monday is Indigenous Peoples’ Day.) Individual Lesson Week 9: October 21 – 25 Composition Class Week 10: October 28 – November 1 (SDMEA is in Sioux Falls on Friday.) Individual Lesson Week 11: November 4 – 8 (Tuesday is Assessment Day. Wednesday is instrument day. SDMTA is in Spearfish on Friday.) Composition Class Week 12: November 11 – 15 (Monday is Veterans Day.) Individual Lesson Week 13: November 18 – 22 (Choir tour may be on Wednesday and Thursday.) Composition Class Week 14: November 25 – 29 (Thanksgiving break is Wednesday through Friday.) Individual Lesson Week 15: December 2 – 6 Composition Class Week 16: December 9 – 13 (Wednesday is Final Exam Prep Day. Thursday and Friday are final exam days.)
